  3. Parents are shut out because progress report comments are due today. It will re-open for parents to view once comments have been completed.

  4. meaning it will reopen just in time for the school to shut down. So if there is a question or concern it will just have to wait 2 weeks.

  5. How long can it take to copy and paste, " is a pleasure to have in class"?

    1. Well, when a teacher says otherwise, a lot of parents immediately point the finger back at them and either tell them they're wrong, or they don't know how to relate to their child, etc.

Parents nowadays put too much in having the teachers raise their children. If you make your kids accountable, take an interest in what they do in school and everywhere else, and follow up with them like responsible parents. Then you won't need to read a "general" progress report in the first place.

      --Sincerely,
The parent of 2 Honors students who enjoy their school, their friends, their teachers, and are completely oblivious to all the BS we adults like to b**ch about.

  6. Give it a rest for Christmas sake. Progress reports are important especially in those classes where the teacher does NOT communicate with parents when a kid is failing or starts to drop in their grades significantly (how hard is it to send an email these days?????)Happy to say these teacher are in the minority here in my experience yet they exist. No word from them at all, barely any grades put on portal, takes months for them to grade a paper, etc. until these reports come.
Your HONOR ROLL kids are doing great. Glad to hear it. There are kids who are not.
You have no clue what some parents are dealing with in their home and family life. Yes, there are some who are just are clueless and could care less. There are others that are dealing with hardships you could not imagine.
Communication is key to keeping these kids on track.

  7. Sorry...don't buy it. And you have no idea what MY family goes through. I guess you assume I live in a world filled with sunshine and daisies....I do not.

If you have to be alerted by a teacher that your child's grades are dropping significantly, you're on another planet than your kid. If you don't know that they're doing their homework, if you don't have a dialogue on a daily basis about what tests are coming up, what projects they are doing, etc...then stop blaming the teacher when s/he smacks you into reality.

It doesn't take hours daily to do this. In all actuality it takes mere minutes. You'd be amazed at how much better your child can do at school if you put the responsibility to do well on them instead of their teachers. Yeah, maybe they won't be all honor students, but some kids will NEVER be honor roll students. Is that so terrible? We all have our strengths and weaknesses. We as parents have a duty to our children to objectively view theirs. No one does their child a service by blaming others for their failures, nor are they preparing those kids for a successful future.

    1. Sorry not buying your "everything is rosy" vision of what goes on in households. You clearly don't have teenagers or your teenagers are some rare genetic form of perfection. I have two very strong students but I absolutely love the parent portal and the information it provides. I would have liked the district alerting me and letting me know the parent portal was going to be shut down. Not because I'm some kind of a nut, but because I do check it on a regular basis and came to the conclusion that my computer was not working.
Why when it comes to a communication issue must you attack the people who are looking for more information? It is illogical!

  8. Why do they attack? Its simple. A combination of arrogance and intolerance.
There are kids here who are being raised by elderly grandmothers, single parents who are working 2 jobs, parents are ill or taking care of THEIR elderly parents. There have been students who arent even living in a home.
And by the way a teacher absolutely should be alerting the parent/guardian if the studetns grades are dropping significantly. Thats their job.

  9. After what happened last week, we should all be nicer to our teachers and all the school personnel.
Thank them for taking good care of our children and for keeping them safe.
    Merry Christmas!
